The first weekend of camping for 2007 is officially in the books. huzzah!
It was great on Friday and most of Saturday as it was mostly sunny and warm, and for some odd reason the campground never really got full. My guess is people took what they were seeing in Calgary as how it was in the mountains, but they couldn’t have been more wrong.
It only rained on Saturdaynight, and it got much colder than Friday night… but it was still a vast improvement over previous years (where I learned bringing a small snow shovel isn’t such a bad idea). Much to my displeasure we discovered my monster tarp leaks through about 15 billion tiny holes… most on the table. This forced us to make tp dams to keep part of the table dry so I could continue to kick some serious ass at Mille Bornes and Citadels.
We even got a little snow or hail as we were packing up on Sunday morning to remind us of who is really in charge of how fun the weekend could have been. I am so glad we didn’t stay the extra night, because holy crap did it ever hail after we got back to the city.
damn mother nature.. thinks she’s so cool…
oh, and I am fighting a cold now, and I can pin it almost 100% on standing in a ice cold creek building bridges, moving rocks, and generally having a fantastic time doing it.
two really fun hikes, many bridges were built, a ton of wildlife (I wish I had got the camera out for the moose, but I did get the bear), relatively good weather, and good times with good people…
who could ask for anything more?
stay tuned for pictures… (although if you are coming from the zeforums you have likely already seen some of them on the ORG)
Sounds like it was an awesome time! Would have loved to join you cats! Nice pics on the ORG btw.
