Mt. Indefatigable

indefatigable \in-dih-FAT-ih-guh-bul\, adjective:
Incapable of being fatigued; not readily exhausted; untiring; unwearying; not yielding to fatigue

Let me tell you something about this mountain, it made me take the last part of this definition to heart.

I could have stopped any number of times through this hike and been ok with the progress I made, but I feel that unless you are talking about reaching the summit, the point of a scramble / mountain hike (within reason) isn’t to just say “I made it to that spot”. If I had turned back there would be a part of me that would insist I come back some other time to stand on top of this mountain and raise my arms in victory. :)

If I was hiking alone I might have stopped and turned back, using my need to be back in Calgary for 3pm as the perfect excuse to abort and go get something cold to drink. I didn’t turn back because I really did want to reach the top… plus Jon wouldn’t let me quit before we got there. :P

“everyone likes breasts”

That’s what my mom says. And who argues with their mother?

We are sad that we can not be in Calgary this weekend for the big 60km Weekend to End Breast Cancer walk but our spirits will be there sweating along beside you all! Mom, you truly are the courage, you inspire Jen & myself every single day. Stay hydrated and find what shade you can because it looks like it’s going to be a hot one! Big hugs to the “Jiggle Loop of Hope“! And big hugs to your sassy support team!

Hospital Music

Matthew Good’s new full length album is available streaming off his website.. all you have to do is register.

If you are the more patient type, the album is released July 31.

I know what I’m doing at lunch that day :)

vacation = end; FeedBeads = live

First, a kudos to an entrepreneur. A friend of a friend has decided to go into business for herself creating and selling handmade nursing necklaces and I have to say that if she keeps at it with the passion that she has shown so far, she can’t fail! It was a lot of fun to build her website. She has put a lot of work into this venture: FeedBeads – Funky Beads for Funky Babies.

Vacation is Gone. Capital G. Like Hugo until his next birthday except that I don’t live in a wine cellar.
Hugo from

It was awesome. Great company. Good weather. Fun games. And now we have good friends coming to visit us! And we can’t wait!

This is what the end of vaction looked like:

End of Vacation

MSGN comes of age

I have to say that this last Magic Satchel Games Night might just be the new standard to which all future events are compared. Dave & Jen, you guys rock! Perfect location, great snacks, lots of tables & chairs, and a great group of gamers made it a night to remember. I’m rather intimidated to hold the next one – maybe I’ll defer to Alan for August ;)

Again, thanks for having us, for giving us places to sleep and a great breakfast, and for digging my phone out of the couch the next day. Hope you have a safe drive back today!

Rise Against kick ass!

Or is that “kicks ass”… I never figured that one out. Regardless (not irregardless), they came, we saw, they kicked ass, and we loved it! Every minute of every song too, and I don’t say that about many bands these days. After a strange Deftones show on the 15th (couldn’t really make out any music and the vocals were up WAY too high) it was great to see such a tight band on the 20th. They played mostly new stuff, with a few older songs thrown in for those who remember their Fat Wreck Chords days. Even a couple acoustic songs – very cool! And the fans were really great too – reminded me of our singalongs at NIN shows ;)

This show definitely solidified Rise Against on my favorite bands list – can’t wait for a new album!

G for “Grab My Ass”

they say we are a G-rated blog

Whew! Thank God we didn’t get a “NC” rating because I like the cougars. At least one I do. And that’s when I start playing the alphabet game:
A is for arse
B is for bee-yatch
C is for cunning linguist
D is for me
E is for elephantiasis of the genitals
F is for…

Metric, awesome, again

They’re simply one of those bands that *owns* a crowd, regardless of how many times they’ve played a city or how many times they play the same songs. The stage presence of all 4 members is overwhelming, which isn’t all that common in most bands. Flames Central might not be an ideal place for shows but it definitely worked out alright… maybe they’ll put a more reasonable limit on how many people they let in next time ;)

Can’t wait for the new album!!

yippie kai ay motherf…..

Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard… summer blockbuster #2 off my list and I have to say I was quite happy with what I saw.

At this point, Die Hard doesn’t really require a lot of explaining or character development. We know who the major player is and the main objective of the movie is pretty clear… John McLane must hurt / maim / kill as many bad guys as needed to save the day, and destroy as much property as humanly possible while doing it.
