Tokyo Police Club rocked the Warehouse last night, with the very solid The Meligrove Band opening. What a show! Down the road we’ll look back fondly at these small venue shows and say “yeah, I saw them when they weren’t even selling out clubs.” This is one of those bands that are simply destined to be huge!

The guys all have amazing stage presence, are incredible musicians, and seem to genuinely love playing live. It was so nice to see a band actually laughing and having fun together on stage, not just playing through their material and hoping to sell a few CDs & t-shirts. So down to earth… they even walked through the main entrance before the show with the rest of us. The keyboardist stole the show in my opinion – he definitely loves what he does, and it was hard to watch anyone else play with his constant flailing and mashing of keys. Two points for him! After playing their last song of the night, the lead singer closed with “that’s everything we have! We’ll be back next year with some more new songs”… they literally played their entire repertoire in one go. I am officially hooked! :D
