Day 1 – calgary to LA

thanks to some last second assistance from my parents, I managed to plow through 99% of my pre-trip to do list and make it to the airport somewhat on time with just a few minor problems.

Problem 1 – the self check in kiosks hate me. In the foolish hope that it would speed up my check-in, I broke two of them before my spot in line reached the front. I firmly believe this was a diversion the lady at air Canada sent me on to give the illusion that the line went quickly.

Problem 2 – after the first line… Another line! Customs check in, where having zero personality seems to be a job requirement (right alongside a general lack of people skills). I thoght I was going to see someone go mental because she wasn’t going to make her flight, a guard get really grumpy because someone put their luggage on the ground more than six inches from his foot, and every time the line looked like it was about to end we turn a corner to discover… more line.

Problem 3 – I forgot to have real money for the airplane. No breakfast, and no money for lunch… crap.

Fortunately for me the guy in the seat next to me was awesome, so he bought me a sandwich! Hellacool. Alan, you’re the man… thanks.

Now I’m in LA with three and a half hours to kill before the journey continues…
