the countdown begins…

14 days until 24 hours of adrenalin.

14 days to make that final push of conditioning to try and make sure I don’t die up there.

I went and rode through the majority of the course from last year (12 of the 14 km), and this is going to be a challenge….

and by challenge I mean it will be a challenge to stay out of the way of those that do this sort of thing for a “living”.

I am confident I will be able to do my part, but I sure hope there isn’t a time people think I should finish this in. I expect to be taking a rest or 10 on the way around the course, and hopefully manage to avoid getting run over.

I just hope they keep the downhill part from last year because that almost made alllll that uphill worth it. really wide track, banked corners, and lots of speed… so much fun :)

As for commuting, I am on ride #27 of the year today. only 7 commuting rides in a month? I know, I know… I am waay behind schedule to reach my goal of 2000 miles this year, but nobody said I had to stop once the snow comes. ;)

I’ll spare you the reasons why, but I will say that I have told myself “no more excuses!”. I hope this translates in to a better result the next time I report in.

I feel pretty good when I am riding now, but it amazes me just how going from my completely bald tires to something with tread makes in how challenging the commute becomes. no more coasting for me :(

I know I shouldn’t be “wasting” my new tires on the pavement, but I am far too lazy to change them back when I am going to have to put them back on for Monday night when I go back out to Canmore. it may be time to look at investing in a second set of rims.

Odometer: 3161.3km
Total for 2007: 659.4km

virtual location: for this year I am just beyond Revelstoke, BC… on the way to Glacier National Park.

Overall I have passed through Thunder Bay, Ontario and I am on my way to Nipigon. click here.

stay tuned…
