It has been a quiet week on the ol’ posting front, and that is basically tied in to the fact that it has been a really… really slow week. I’ve done nothing I would consider “important” enough to actually write about on an individual basis, so here ya go… it’s summary time.
Flames lose (then win).. boo! (yay!) Stamps lose, Bombers win.. Yay! Oilers Win (then win then lose) yay! (yay! boo!) Canadiens win! yay! Tucker gets beat down by Avery… yay! I really miss playing hockey with my team (stupid season long suspensions)… boo!
…and that was the week in sports. over to you in vacation planning, Jim.
Thanks Bob. The top story for this week is that I made a few decisions… most notable is the one to go with renting a car over using the NZ equivalent of Greyhound to get myself around.
I initially thought that it would be way outside my price range, but after some investigation I discovered that it is only marginally more than the travel pass, and it affords me an exponentially higher amount of personal freedom to go explore the country when and however I feel like it. In addition, the Greyhound is fine for transporting me from town A to town B, but how do I get out to do stuff once I get to the new location? I’d likely resort to a car rental or some sort of shuttle bus to get out and about, so I figured I’d just cut out the middle man.
That’s it for me, now over to Frank with the health and wellness report.
Thanks Jimbo.
On this day my bike still seems to be running in top form, and I’ve pushed the numbers up to 84 commutes for a grand total of around 2200km for this year (4690km overall).
I have had to resign myself to the fact that my “new years goal” will not be met as there are only maybe 25 commuting days left between now and Christmas break. 84 plus 25 does not equal the required 124 rides to reach my goal of 3218km (2000 miles) for the year. The revised goal is to pass 5000 on the odometer and hit 100 rides. I figure that even with winter knocking at the door I should be able to do this no problem… I just need to be smart and stay motivated.
That is all the news that’s fit to print for this week.
Here’s hoping that next week will be slightly more interesting, or at least provide me with some decent photo ops to share with you all.
Hey Al, I just wanted to say again how awesome it is that you have committed yourself to ride so much! It truly is an inspiration!
So does 124 roll-over and become next year’s goal?
yeah.. I figure I have to meet or exceed that before I can think about adding another ridiculous amount of kilometers to ride
It best be blowing in with a chinook sometime soon or I’ll have serious issues meeting the revised goal. -10 is my cutoff and I don’t think the mornings have been above that in almost 2 weeks.
