Tagline: “No one returns alive!”

For those who aren’t in the know, we do one (or two) trips each season to tropical Abbotsford to cheer on our Flames prospects in person and attempt to drink the city dry. In holding with the great tradition of earlier Abbots-trips, this year’s promises to be just as beer-y, just as hockey-y, and perhaps even more pancake-y. A brief summary of the illustrious history of Abbots-events:

Abbots-trip: Origins (John, Josh)
In the beginning, two brave adventurers attempt to conquer this small section of enemy (Canuck) territory armed only with horns, Abbots-shirts, bellowing, and an incredible capacity for beer. Abbotsford won, but we’d be back…

Abbots-trip II: Double the Trouble (John, Josh, Al, Rando)
Doubling the attendees, the pancakes, the beer, and yes, the TROUBLE. Highlighted by Rando’s uncanny ability to shutdown a dance floor, I’d say we won this round.

Abbots-trip III: Hawkey’s Revenge (John, Josh, Al)
In which our heroes took in a single game, rather than double-header, and nearly equalled the beer intake of the previous trips. Hawkey (the Heat’s mascot) was not impressed. Call it a draw…

The upcoming trip will take in games on Feb 17th & 18th vs. the Houston Aeros. With four confirmed attendees so far we should at least equal the shenanigans of Abbots-trip II. Although with $2 beer at the game on Friday and $6 minijugs at the bowling alley Saturday, it could easily be sloppier. Thus the tagline!
